“Work your 9 – 5, then build your side hustle during your 5 – 9“, they said.
When you’re working in excess of the classic 40 hour week, in another high-demanding environment, it’s not always possible to spend your limited down time working on your next big thing.
After a grueling work day or long week you don’t typically have the mental capacity to come up with great ideas or give your side hustle your very best. Some people can. But the truth is, usually when people get their side hustle to a point where they can make it their full hustle, they usually say, “I should’ve done it sooner”.
Given all the above, I’ve created The Bootstrap Sabbatical, an experimental and dedicated year off, where I try build my next big thing.
In order to make the year a success, I’ll be working on a variety of businesses, publicly, and will hold myself to a personal thesis and a number of goals that I’ve outlined in my own personal Bootstrap Sabbatical here:
This is an experiment and I’m hoping my journey will encourage others to take an entrepreneurial leap of faith and back themselves, possibly creating their own Bootstrap Sabbatical.
If you do, I’d love to hear from you here.
If you want to follow me on my journey, as I build businesses publicly and work my way through the goals in my own personal Bootstrap Sabbatical, as well as share some of my thoughts on tech and my secret sauces for business and personal productivity, sign up to my newsletter here.
