About Me

Kev Jochelson Red Profile Pic

Hi! I'm Kevin, an Entrepreneur based in Sydney, Australia. I've spent over a decade building tech startups as a Founder, operator and early-stage employee.

Now, I'm in search of my next big thing. I'm taking a dedicated year off to build a variety of businesses and products. I'm calling it a Bootstrap Sabbatical and you're invited to join me on the journey.

Comments from awesome people I’ve worked with

"Kevin is on the path to self mastery. He strives for excellence in all things; work, life, community, everything. And often, he achieves it. If you are fortunate enough to have Kevin on your team, be it work or play, you can be that much more confident of your success. I'd be remiss not to recommend Kevin into any fast paced, problem solving, elite business team."

More about me

I am a Serial Entrepreneur and Founder based in Sydney, Australia.

I’ve also lived and worked/studied in Johannesburg, Jerusalem, Hong Kong and San Francisco and bring a global view to my work and advice. Nonetheless, I have a passion for the Aussie Startup Ecosystem and the APAC region in general.

I started my career at UBS Investment Bank working in Operations across Equities and Client Relationship Management in Sydney and Hong Kong. Before that, I started my first business when I was 12, running an entertainment business with my older sister. By my late teens, I grew that into a business that serviced house parties and other functions, and alongside a University of Sydney Business Scholarship I was able to cover my double degree, first car and travel expenses.

I always was, and wanted to be, an Entrepreneur.

So after 5 years, I left banking and entered the startup scene as a Founder, where I launched Fiestafy, a marketplace startup that connected travellers with the best available and accessible major events in their own language. Simply put, it was like “Expedia for Major Events“.

I’ve since specialised in startup and scale-up operations.

Besides being a Founder, I was an early employee at Jayride, a now ASX-listed travel marketplace, and spent close to 5 years, mostly as the Head of Operations, at Workyard, a SaaS-enabled construction marketplace that we grew from Sydney to San Francisco and beyond – we raised multiple rounds of funding, pivoted a few times, grew the team, opened multiple offices and went from $0 revenue to 8 figures.

I am currently completing a Bootstrap Sabbatical, building multiple businesses, publicly, backed by the venture lab, Banksia Ventures.

I am also proud to be a Mentor and Advisor to several Startups, Founders, Funds and Programs.

I’m a big believer in Founder Karma.

I’m always happy to help in any way possible from general business strategy and product problem solving to specifics around scaling and growing cost-effective and efficient global operations. I have a particular passion for early-stage ventures; the problems are numerous, but the possibilities are endless.

I do consult. On occasion. When I’m available and I find the problem fascinating, and I can bring the systems, solutions or people to help a business level up. I operate with a syndicate of seasoned operators via my consulting business, Opsize.

Outside of work, I’m an adventurer, artist, and, self-confessed, foodie and coffee-snob. I love travelling, painting, and getting together with friends and family around an incredible meal and great wine. I try to combine these things by hosting Growth Dinners, where I usually get Entrepreneurs, Tech Folk and other interesting people together to talk trends, business, and life.

Thanks for making it this far!
